After ten years of accolades from the European Coastal Quality Authority (Quality Coast), following a rigorous re-evaluation process by international independent experts in sustainable tourism development, Paphos has been announced as having been awarded a Silver Medal, securing a place in the list of the world’s 100 greenest destinations for 2024-2026.

With the Quality Coast Award and a place on the list of the greenest tourist destinations, Paphos is becoming even more famous for its incomparable beauty, picturesque beaches and rich and rare vegetation, dominated by Akamas.

The basic criteria for selecting areas are water purity, biodiversity of areas, their environment, socio-economic situation, cultural heritage, lack of air pollution, noise level, quality of tourist information and others.

In a statement, ETAP Paphos stressed that the award is fully in line with the vision of making Paphos a qualitatively excellent tourist destination that will offer visitors a wide range of experiences and contribute to the sustainable development of the area with respect for the environment and cultural heritage.

Paphos Region Tourism Development and Promotion Company is getting closer to achieving its goal of achieving Gold and Platinum awards in the coming years and being among the few destinations (worldwide) to receive a certificate recognized by GSTC.
