July 2024 broke an absolute record in the history of the tourism industry of the Republic of Cyprus in terms of the number of vacationers.

In July 2024, 551,229 tourists vacationed in Cyprus. This is an absolute record. This is 5.3% more than in July 2023 and 0.05% more than in July of pre-pandemic 2019, which held the previous record. Most tourists from Great Britain, Israel and Poland vacationed in Cyprus in July.

ENTRY TOURISM

According to the Statistical Service of the Republic of Cyprus, the UK retains its leadership. Last month, 186,751 British tourists (33.9% of the tourist flow) vacationed on the island.

In second place is Israel (71,238 people and 12.9%). Poland closes the top three with 35,456 tourists and a market share of 6.4%. The Top 5 also included Sweden (23,511 and 4.3%) and Germany (20,726 and 3.8%).

Compared to July 2023, tourist flows from Poland increased by 22.4%, Israel by 10.1%, Germany by 8.9%, Great Britain by 6.15%, and Sweden by 2.2%.
As for the main purpose of visiting Cyprus, 88.7% arrived in Cyprus for vacation, 8.6% to visit relatives and friends, 2.7% for business.

OUTGOING TOURISM

In July 2023, 184,335 passengers left the island, in July 2024 – 171,382. The most popular destination remains Greece, which was visited by 68,805 people last month. This is 40.1% of the outbound tourist flow from Cyprus. The top three included the UK (18,987 and 11.1%) and Italy (8,191 and 4.8%).

Passenger flights to and from Cyprus are operated by 55 airlines. They connect the island with 156 airports in 38 countries.
